22 January 2011 was a "Biutiful' day for Spanish actor Javier Bardem and actress Penelope Cruz! The exotic couple had their first child Leo Encinas Bardem just three days before Javier received his third Oscar nomination for his role in the movie "Biutiful'! Although Leo was born in 2011, he is actually a Tiger baby, the same astrological sign as his mother Penelope! Football and fashion royalty David and Victoria Beckham recently welcomed their little Moon Rabbit princess into their family on the 10th July 2011. Harper Seven is their first and only daughter, out of four beautiful children, and has brought immense joy into the lives of the couple who have often publicly expressed their yearnings for a baby girl. 

But why is there a."Seven" in her name? Apparently Harper was born on the 7th month of the year, 7th day of the week (Sunday) at the 7th hour of the day weighing 7 pounds! And of course we know that David's jersey number is the famous number 7, and so are both Victoria and David's fengshui KUA number! So no doubt this little girl is an auspicious addition to their already fortunate brood, sharing the same astrological animal sign as her father (a Rabbit). Victoria herself is a Tiger lady (seasonal friend of the Rabbit) so little , Harper will bring her plenty of good luck every Spring!

TRUMP-KUSHNER HEIRESS IS BORN! 

Trump Donald is now officially a grandfather! His savvy daughter Ivanka Trump (star of TV show The Apprentice) and her media tycoon husband Jared Kushner of the elite Kushner Family just celebrated the birth of their first child in July, when their beautiful baby girl Arabella Rose was born! Such an auspicious occasion for Grandfather Trump and father Jared, as little heiress Arabella happens to be secret soul mates with both her father and her grandfather!

It is important to attune yourself to the clearing process. The act itself is a departure from a normal kind of day. It is a departure from routine, and the mind gets a creative jolt that is not unwelcome. When the mind focuses on the process of dejunking physical space, it automatically goes into cleansing mode.

Every time you clear out your clutter, it will take you less time to do so than the last and the whole process will feel increasingly natural. Keep your kitchen clear, as all junk there Is bad 

The build-up of junk in the kitchen can be quite dangerous. This is because bad energy can seep into the food you eat. Cooked food is not as susceptible to absorbing yin chi (which can cause illness) as cold food is, since it is already yin. If you are a salad and sandwiches person, do ensure that your kitchen stays reasonably free of yin energy, which emanates from kitchen clutter.

Revitalizing your kitchen

You need to de-junk your kitchen as often as possible to avoid the harmful build-up of yin chi. Below is what you must do often: 

1) Clean the refrigerator. 

Do this once a month so that leftover food does not get lost in the back and rot into poison. Do the same for the cabinets that hold grocery goods. For instance, people have a nasty habit of ignoring canned food for so long that it turns bad before they notice. The same thing happens with exotic sauces and seasonings that become harmful junk as they degenerate in half-opened bottles and containers.

2) Check out cookware. 

In the kitchen, all physical junk is bad and should be thrown away. Included in this category are not just stale foods and foodstuff, but also broken plates, cups, and bowls. Cooking pots and pans also cannot last forever, and once defective, they should be replaced. Don't buy a new frying pan just to keep the old one with its scratched Teflon surface; or hold on to that worn-out, ugly coffeemaker that you have already replaced with a brand new model.

3) Double-check trash cans. 

Make sure to clear the garbage regularly and to throw away rotting food. Also clear the cat litter and make sure any goldfish bowls here are kept clean. Untidy, dirty kitchens ruin more marriages and cause more heartache than you would imagine. Among all of the rooms of the home, this is the place that is most vulnerable to the build-up of yin energy, so treat all physical junk in the kitchen as bad and get rid of it.

Treat bedrooms as sacred spaces 

Keep your bedroom free of clutter for peaceful, restful sleep. Treat this area as if it is a sacred space, since this is where you spend all of your sleeping, subconscious time. This is where you leave the conscious world and go into another dimension. Here is where you dream dreams and let yourself go. Here is where you rest, cocooned from the world. So keep this space sacred and special.
 
Keep the energy of the bedroom free from energy that is negative, harmful, stale, or hostile - so throw out things that make the energy turn sour. Instead, place only things you love in your bedroom, things that make you feel pampered and beautiful.

Practical Tips

1. Don't store clothes high on elevated shelves in your bedroom. This is a bad idea because they create heaviness above the sleeping level. Store your winter wardrobe in a store room and keep all of your suitcases in another room.
 
2. Keep all exercise equipment, bikes, and wall mirrors out of the bedroom. Your place of rest is not your gym. 

3. Make sure that all work-related junk is kept away from the bedroom. Do not have a work desk here, so that you eliminate the danger of work-junk piling up inside the bedroom. Keep computers and telephones out. Let children have a specialized study room, rather than a desk in their bedroom. If there are insufficient rooms in your house for this, try to place the desk a little away from the bed so that junk that builds up on the desk does not affect the sleeping child.
 
4. Keep all dirty clothes inside a laundry basket. Nothing is more yin than dirty clothes; the energy it gives off permeates any room pretty fast.

5. Do not place junk under, over, or beside a bed. Keep beds clean at all times. 

6. Keep all doors clear of junk so that they open and close smoothly. 

7. Never hang questionable art on the walls of your bedroom. Make sure you never hang anything that looks threatening or anything that can attract bad luck.

Bengal House Cat

Bigger than your regular domesticated feline, they were first developed to satisfy the market looking for exotic animals that could fit in as pets in a home environment. The goal was to create a breed that bore a strong physical resemblance to their wild counterparts, but one that possessed none of the characteristics that made them unsuitable to be handled by man. 

On meeting with Oscar, Ophelia and Olaf, indeed the breeding program seems to have worked wonders. Saskia's Bengals are not only domesticated, they behave more like dogs than cats. Even with a perfect stranger, they seem to be happy enough to be picked up, cuddled and played with. They make the same cat meows and noises, with a distinctly louder purr, and they respond to stroking and hugs.

Oscar, the biggest of the three, is larger than my cocker spaniel Luckey, and as heavy. His coat is patterned with spots that look like they belong on a leopard, and he is friendlier than many dogs I know. The kitten Olaf, who is just 4 months old, lies happily cradled in my arms and when I try to let him go, he extends his claws as if to say "Not yet. Hug me some more." 

This one has markedly rounded ears that look like they belong on a lion or a tiger, and darker spots than the big one Oscar. The third cat Ophelia is a little more aloof and also seems to be the most active. Her spots are rosettes rather than circles, where the darker outer ring of the spots encircle a smaller lighter colored ring, giving the coat a richer overall color.

These cats are lively and animated, and we have a hard time getting them to sit still to he photographed. But wait awhile and they quickly seek to re-establish a connection and jump up on the furniture to be part of the action. Olaf even obliges us and sits very still throughout our teatime conversation in a decorative porcelain bowl as if parading himself for the interview.

So are they wild at all? You would certainly expect a hybrid with a wild variety to demonstrate some wildness in temperament. But Saskia explains that, "No, as long as you get a fourth generation one, they are friendlier than house cats!"

The first generation (F1), where a Leopard Cat is bred to a domestic cat, produces a hybrid unsuitable to the home environment; these cats are usually kept in zoos or with professional breeders. A second generation known as F2 is a cross between an F1 and a domestic cat. An F3 has one domestic parent and one F2 parent. F4s are the only ones considered suitable for the amateur cat owner, with family and children in the household, and these are the ones I am meeting today.

"They need a lot of exercise though as they have a lot of energy," says Saskia, Her cats have their own maze of tunnels for them to explore daily, specially built for them of metal mesh, resembling a giant version of the hamster tunnels you can buy pick-and-mix style from the pet store.

So are Bengals good feng shui? 

Just as the Shih Tzu (whose name means lion) was bred for the Imperial Palace of China for its resemblance to the lion, the Bengals today are bred for those looking to bring the magnificent tiger into the home.

In the Manchu Dynasty of China, the Shih Tzu became the temple dogs of the Palace while the favored ones became the personal pets of the Royal family as lap dogs or bed warmers, and because of their resemblance to the mighty lion and the belief that these dogs brought good fortune and good feng shui, the Dowager Empress Tzu-Hsi forbade anyone outside the palace to own one. Anyone in that period caught owning a lion dog was sentenced to death. After her death in 1911, the Shih Tzu breed became more widespread, and even exported to Western countries such as England and the Netherlands.

Today. the Bengal is enjoying the same kind of craze, filling the same kind of void for cat lovers that the Shih Tzu did for luck-hunting dog lovers. The Asian Leopard Cat and their hybrid Bengal variety have been nicknamed the "Money Cat" because their spots resemble the ancient Chinese coin, round with a hole in the middle. The stripes down their legs and the mascara markings near their eyes give them a resemblance to the mighty Tiger, which in feng shui symbolism represents courage, power and daring. The Tiger to the Chinese are revered as the creature that wards off evil and prevents disasters from befalling a household.

A Tiger painting is often hung on the wall facing the entrance to scare away demons that happen to stray near the home or building. The Tiger is also often associated with the popular God of Wealth, Tsai Shen Yeh, depicted in art pieces riding a Tiger.

In the coming year, the Tiger features again in the years Paht Chee chart, as it has done so for the past two years since the 2010 Tiger Year. Some practitioners believe that having your own pet Tiger in the home brings the Tiger onto your side, thus turning any danger brought by this fearsome creature into opportunity for the inhabitants. Indeed, many powerful Asian amulets and charms feature the Tiger, especially amulets for protection or amulets to help you capture your heart's desire.

From the more "New Age" modern approach to feng shui, having lively pets in the home is believed to balance out energies that are overly yin, giving the home an infusion of yang chi. Pets are therefore encouraged, especial for families who spend a lot of time outside the home - for instance when both husband and wife are at work all day. Having a dog or a cat patrol the house while you are out prevents energies in the home from becoming stale, and are thus encouraged from a feng shui viewpoint.

The Bengal makes a fabulous option if you are looking for a companion pet that will interact with you like a dog, but is independent enough to look after itself when you don't have the time to play. They bound and pounce, but their agility and litheness also make them less of a damage risk in households with expensive porcelain and decorative that wouldn't withstand the boisterousness of the golden retriever for example. Oscar, Ophelia and Olaf certainly endeared themselves to me and l am oh so tempted to go invest in one of these fabulously beautiful hybrids. The Legacy of the White Rajahs 

Kuching's birth from a primitive settlement by the bank of the Sarawak River to a thriving city today is stuff straight out of a romantic Victorian novel. It was said that when James Brooke arrived in Sarawak, the ruling sultan at the time enlisted his help to quell a local rebellion, which he successfully executed aided by his well-armed ship, The Royalist. As a reward, he was officially installed as the 'Rajah' of Sarawak on 18 August 1842.

Kuching History

The Brooke dynasty subsequently ruled the fiefdom of Sarawak for a hundred years, bringing law and order to the country and establishing a trading post in Kuching. They built infrastructures and fine colonial buildings which today are the proud heritage of the city. Rajah James Brooke must have a good nose for Feng Shui. Having surveyed the land and surrounding, he chose the present site to set up his first settlement, capitalizing on the auspicious landscape, It was well sheltered with hilly topography ideal for defense against marauding pirates and headhunters and near the sea for easy access as a port.

Sprawled along the banks of the mighty Sarawak River, Kuching is a picturesque city oozing with colonial charm and native allure. It owes much of its charm and quaintness to the White Rajahs who built beautiful buildings reminiscent of their own homeland in England. But for the tropical heat and the local people, you could easily be fooled into thinking you are in a British city. Its fine buildings are indicative of its wealth since Brooke's rule.

One of the most magnificent buildings of the Brooke era is the Astana (Palace), now the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak. Built in 1870 by Rajah Charles Brooke for his wife, the Ranee Margaret, the palace stands on a rolling hill on the northern bank of the Sarawak River on a prime spot, facing the city center known as the Main Bazaar, a row of 19th century Chinese shop houses, which are still in used today as shops and offices. 

The site of the Astana commands an excellent position on the crest of the 'water dragon' harnessing the yang energy from the river that meanders gently like a giant serpent towards the sea. Just a stone's throw away is the castellated Fort Margherita, strategically built in 1879, as a defense post. All the wonderful historical buildings of that era were built along the Sarawak River. The White Rajahs must have felt the good vibes of the site and appreciated the energy of the river.

The Blessing of the Water Dragon 

The Sarawak River forms the main artery into the city since time immemorial. Its natural harbor and strategic geographical position lends itself to be a port and defense position in the Brooke era. The river is the lifeblood of the city for water supply, transport, recreation and industrial purposes. Kuching was built in the 'nest of the dragon' in Feng Shui speak, with the perfect landscape.

Surrounded by the Matang Range which sweeps into the plains towards the Sarawak River, Kuching nestles in an 'armchair' configuration well protected by the mountain ranges and complemented by the river that flows into the sea just a few miles away. The combination of mountain, river and sea is a potent formula harnessing the auspicious chi of the 'water dragon'.

The undulating landscape of the city helps to regulate the flow of the energy emanating from the water. In 1998 a Barrage and Shiplock was constructed near the river mouth to regulate the water level in order to control tidal and fluvial floods and to reduce the flow of muddy sediments to the foreshores of Santubong and Damai coastal regions which are prime tourist attraction. This barrier helps to retain the water energy of the river thereby enhancing the growth of the city.

Kuching has prospered into city status and today is a vibrant epicentre of trade, commerce and tourism of Sarawak. The once dilapidated waterfront of old warehouses and ramshackle buildings have been torn down and transformed into a wonderful promenade with landscaped gardens and fountains for the enjoyment of the locals and tourists. 

What was once a very yin area is bursting with life and activities. The Main Bazaar is restored and given a facelift. The energy of the city is constantly refreshed and rejuvenated through its well maintained infrastructure and keeping the river clean. Kuching is poised for bigger prosperity in the future, thanks to the blessings of the 'water dragon', the Sarawak River. The cat will one day transform itself into a tiger. This ends Part 2.
